Residential Advocate – Part Time
Hours: 15 – 29 hours/week, afternoons, overnights, weekends
Pay: $16/hr
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Residential Advocate position at our Emergency Shelter in Alpena, MI, focuses on afternoon, weekend, and overnight shifts. Responsibilities include answering the 24-Hour Help and Support Line, supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, maintaining a clean environment, completing intakes, and handling household tasks like cleaning, sorting donations, and stocking shelves. Physical requirements include lifting up to 35 pounds, navigating stairs, and sorting donations.
Prevention Specialist – Part Time
Hours: 24-26 hours/week, evenings and weekends as needed for outreach events
Pay: $18.75/hr
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Prevention Specialist position is part-time (24–26 hours/week) and based out of our Alpena, MI, office with regular travel throughout our five-county service area. Responsibilities include developing and leading community trainings and presentations focused on preventing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence. This role involves collaborating with community partners, facilitating outreach activities, collecting data, and supporting prevention goals. Applicants should be comfortable with public speaking, community engagement, and working independently. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.

Hope Shores Alliance serves Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency and Presque Isle Counties.
Hope Shores Alliance supports regular staff and volunteer training and works to ensure that opportunities for relevant education and training are available to staff at least annually. At Hope Shores Alliance we model our services after the Core Competencies of Advocacy and look to this living document to guide our long and short term decisions and goals. Hope Shores Alliance employees have an understanding of the Core Competencies of Advocacy and reference them regularly in their work.
